Wilderness Orientation is a fun adventure filled with exploration. Our program is designed to introduce all new students to the school's values of respect, responsibility, and excellence through a ten-day backpacking trip. Wilderness Orientation also serves the vital role of creating a shared collective experience through service, teamwork, challenge, and adventure all before the start of the academic school year.
Wilderness Questionnaire?
Please fill out the linked Wilderness Questionnaire. It will help your trip leaders learn a little about you before you arrive on campus.

PREPARING FOR SCHOOL - LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN!
New Family Orientation
Tuesday, August 19, 2025
New Family Orientation helps families transition into the school by informing them about the academic, outdoor, sport, and service programs as well as other aspects of student and residential life. It is an opportunity for parents to meet their child's advisor, become acquainted with the Wilderness Orientation leader and group, and connect with other faculty, administrators, and staff. Parents will also be able to help their boarding students move into their dorm rooms.
Families will be provided with a detailed schedule closer to orientation day, but for planning purposes, the program will run from approximately 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
During the afternoon, students will spend time meeting with their Wilderness Orientation groups and begin preparations for the 10-day backpacking trip. At the end of this day, boarding students will return to the dorms for the evening and day students will go home with their families.
New Student Orientation
Wednesday, August 20, 2025
All students will meet back on campus the following morning for a full day of on-campus orientation programming and preparations for Wilderness. (This is just for students—there are no parent activities on this day.)
On the third day, all new students will depart on their Wilderness trip and embark on this incredible adventure together before officially starting the school year!
2024 New Family Orientation & Opening Days Schedule (the 2025 schedule will be posted soon!)
Please check the CRMS Calendar weekly throughout the academic year for all important dates and times, and review the calendar before making any travel plans.
New families will be able to log in to their accounts once school is in session.
The Canvas portal is where you will find information about your student’s academic courses, assignments, and grades. To learn how to log in and use your account, click here.
Community Dinners are a special time for our school to come together. Much like our philosophy regarding outdoor trips, we view these dinners as a time to connect with peers and faculty without distraction.
Most of these dinners will be formal. Getting dressed up creates a nice contrast to our typically casual school environment. At our first formal dinner, students will dine with their advisee groups and take a photo together.
Formal Dinner Dress Code for Students:
We ask students to dress appropriately and respectfully for the occasion. Attire can include: dress pants/slacks, button-down shirt/blouse, blazer, tie, suit, skirt, dress, etc. Students should not wear denim, athletic shoes, or flip-flops.
Formal dinners are not meant to be cost-prohibitive for families. If the expense of outfitting your child presents a financial burden, please reach out to Molly Dorais, Director of Enrollment & Tuition Assistance.
