Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is seeking a highly qualified College Counselor to join our team of dedicated faculty members. The College Counselor plays a pivotal role in guiding high school students and their families through the complex college admissions process. This position requires a deep understanding of college admissions trends,
financial aid, and standardized testing, as well as a passion for supporting students' academic and personal growth. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, highly organized, and possess the ability to
build strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, and college admissions representatives.
Responsibilities:
College Counseling Class:
- Implement a college counseling course
- Be available for two Student Meeting Blocks (SMB) per week
- Write report cards including course comment, student comment, and recognition statements
- Take attendance (SMS is Renweb)
- Update Canvas LMS with information, assignments, and missing/completed work status
Student Advising:
- Provide individualized guidance to students on college selection, application strategies, essay writing, and interview preparation
- Develop personalized college lists based on students' academic profiles, interests, and career aspirations
- Counsel students on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and help them develop test preparation plans
- Support students in identifying and pursuing scholarship opportunities
- Maintain regular communication with students and families throughout the college application process
- Financial Aid assistance, scholarship search assistance, FAFSA & CSS Profile
- Update Canvas LMS with student work and progress
- Write report cards for students at the end of T1 for 12th grade, and T2 and T3 for 11th grade
Program Development and Delivery:
- Guide students in the Path of Purpose program, which is designed to ensure that each student effectively engages in the school program and develops a college resume
- Develop and implement workshops and presentations on various aspects of college admissions for students and parents
- Organize and facilitate college visits (virtual and in-person) for students
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment between academic programming and college readiness
- Stay current on college admissions trends, policy changes, and best practices
Administrative and Communication:
- Manage and update student application data using Scoir or similar college counseling platforms
- Write comprehensive counselor recommendations and coordinate teacher recommendations
- Track list of faculty asked to complete letters of recommendation\
- Act as a liaison between students, parents, and college admissions offices
- Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for college applications, including transcripts and school profiles
- Track student application progress and outcomes
- Send out regular College Counseling updates and newsletters
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications to update the school profile as needed.
Standardized Test Administration (SAT & ACT):
- Acts as backup test coordinator for both SAT and ACT
- SAT & ACT Test Dates: 8-12 test dates in the fall and spring
- Provide Academic Dean with test data
- Coordinate Test Prep Class with Academic Dean (completed in March for 11th graders)
Active Program:
Participation in the Active Program will be based on background, skill set, and availability. It will likely include fall and spring outdoor trips and participation in our Interim program, a two-week immersive course of study.
Salary Range: $40,000 - $70,000 plus benefits. If housing is included, additional residential faculty duties will be added.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is seeking an Outdoor Program Director to begin in July of 2026. CRMS is committed to providing each student with approaches to learning that will give them the best opportunity to succeed in the classroom and beyond. The Outdoor Program Director position is an administrative role overseeing and planning all aspects of the CRMS Outdoor Program, including Wilderness Orientation for new students, Trips, and Interim. In addition, the Outdoor Program Director works in the Active Program and as a Dorm Parent.
This position reports directly to the Director of Active Curriculum.
Responsibilities:
- Serve on the Active Program Committee (APC)
- Conduct trainings to assist in keeping Leaders up to date with industry standards and “Best Practices” within their discipline.
- Coordinate Wilderness, Fall and Spring Trips, and Interims (in collaboration with Primary Leaders)
- Manage all finances and balance the Outdoor Program budget.
- Manage all public lands permitting
- Act as Basecamp Manager and manage equipment inventory, trip organization, and maintenance, as well as trip food packing.
- Provide leadership and actively mentor new staff by working directly with them and conducting regular meetings.
- Keep records and documentation of all trainings and participation. Encourage participation in and provide resources regarding Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for all staff members within their discipline.
- Instruct in the active program curriculum including trips, mountain sports, arts, or service work.
- Serve on a dorm duty team and a weekend team.
- Take on other duties as needed
- Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in Outdoor Leadership Setting and logistical trip management
- Familiarity with BLM, USFS, and permitting practices
- Risk management experience
- Willing to expand professional learning as needed
- Exceptional communication and organization skills.
- Cultural competency required to promote inclusion and belonging.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of technology

Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is seeking a highly qualified Learning Specialist to join our team of dedicated faculty members starting in the fall of 2026. This educator will support the academic progress of diverse learners in our college-preparatory boarding school.
The CRMS Learning Specialist oversees our Learning Center, working closely with students, faculty, and parents with the goal of enhancing student success through direct intervention, professional development, and personalized learning profiles.
This is a full-time position. If housing is included, additional residential faculty duties will be added. CRMS will consider applicants interested in a part-time position that would not include housing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and implement appropriate academic accommodations, including assistive technology and classroom interventions.
- Educate and coach faculty in best practices for addressing the needs of diverse learners.
- Collaborate with the Academic Dean and Learning Center faculty to develop academic support structures appropriate for a college-preparatory boarding school environment.
- Provide targeted academic support by meeting with students one-on-one and in small groups.
- Manage Learning Center faculty and schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of educational evaluations, learning profiles, and approved accommodations.
- Review applicant files and provide recommendations to the Admission team.
- Process applications for College Board and ACT accommodations.
- Ensure program compliance with ADA guidelines.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and equity, ensuring all students feel a sense of belonging.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required; an advanced degree or Special Education credential is preferred.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is seeking an Instructional Support Teacher to begin in September of 2026. CRMS is committed to providing each student with approaches to learning that will give them the best opportunity to succeed in the classroom and beyond. The CRMS Instructional Support Teacher works in conjunction with our Learning Specialist to oversee personalized learning and homework completion for diverse learners in our college preparatory boarding school.
This teacher will also participate in our active program (including outdoor, sports, arts, and community service curricula) and contribute to our residential and advisory programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted academic support for students enrolled in our Instructional Support Program.
- Foster the development of academic skills and study habits in Instructional Support classes (a small-group setting).
- Support and implement appropriate academic accommodations.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop classroom interventions and learning support strategies.
- Supervise Instructional Support Evening Study two evenings per week.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Instruct active program curriculum, including trips, mountain sports, arts, or service work.
- Serve on a weekend team.
- Foster inclusion ensuring all students’ sense of belonging.
- Take on other duties as needed.
- Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education or teaching certification required; Special Education or Master's Degree preferred.
- Teaching or learning support experience.
- Experience teaching fundamental academic skill sets, including reading comprehension, writing, and executive function.
- Comfortable coaching students with core math classes (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II)
- Willing to expand professional learning as needed.
