Appointed 2026

Jacob grew up in the Philadelphia area and attended Hamilton College before moving to the mountain west. He spent twelve years as a humanities teacher and wilderness trip leader at the High Mountain Institute in Leadville, Colorado, where he particularly enjoyed teaching students about poetry, living out of snow shelters, and leading weeks-long backpacking trips to the Bears Ears region of southern Utah. He brings a passion for wild spaces and type-two fun to his role as the Outdoor Programs Director. In his free time you will find him trail running, reading, writing, or dreaming up creative ways to explore the nearby mountains and deserts.
