(HS)2 History

The High School High Scholar (HS)2 program at Colorado Rocky Mountain School was established in 2007 in cooperation with the Aspen Science Center and program founders Mollie and Garland Lasater.

(HS)2 is based on Phillips Academy's Math & Science for Minority Students (MS)2, which was founded to address the compelling need to cultivate the mathematical and scientific abilities of economically disadvantaged African American, Latino, and Native American public high school students from targeted cities and communities across the United States. (MS)2 has been successful in delivering the training, experience, and intellectual path that prefigures success in college and beyond, and (HS)2 is committed to achieving the same goals.

Since the program’s inception in 2007, 164 scholars have graduated or are currently enrolled in (HS)2:
50 Scholars are currently enrolled, and 112 have graduated from (HS)2. Of these 112, 22 are currently high school seniors during the 2016-17 academic year, and 98 have graduated from both (HS)2 and high school. Of these 98:
• 100% have graduated from high school
• 100% have entered college
• 95% are on track to graduate college within 4-6 years
