Program Overview

During five weeks for three summers, (HS)2 scholars live and learn on the CRMS campus in Carbondale, Colorado. On weekdays, students engage in six hours of academic classes relating to science, math, writing, and college counseling. In the afternoons, they participate in the Active Program, which includes rock climbing, kayaking, and team sports, as well as art classes such as silversmithing, blacksmithing, and music. On weekends, the natural environment surrounding campus inspires exploration. This unique combination of challenging academics and outdoor activities contributes to the intellectual, social and emotional growth of each (HS)2 scholar, while the boarding experience cultivates independence and responsibility.

Program Goals
• To provide scholars with a strong background in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), allowing them to pursue and be successful in advanced courses in high school and college.
• To build scholars’ confidence in their academic and leadership abilities so that they have the intellectual courage, grit, and resilience to manage challenges in high school, college and life.
• To cultivate a strong sense of community that offers students support and encourages them to make positive contributions in their own communities.
• To prepare scholars to attain access to, and financial support for, the colleges of their choice.
