DESCRIPTION:Each term\, we set dates for academic checks. This is a time we encourage families to log into Canvas and recognize each student’s academic progress. Our second academic check is Tuesday\, October 24th. \nThe intention of the Canvas Parent portal is so that families can see the status of assignments or grades given. When used well\, an open grade book promotes productive conversations between parents/guardians\, students\, and teachers. Parents should not feel obligated to check their child’s grade status frequently as most students are better off with autonomy and the understanding that they hold responsibility for their academic achievement. Students are expected to use Canvas daily as they complete homework and keep track of assessments. \n*Please note that current grades give us only a small snapshot of a student’s performance and do not reflect their overall progress or final grade. \nCanvas Tip: The default settings for Canvas Notifications can be overwhelming and unneeded. Students in grades 8 -11 are assessed on their verbal\, math\, and reading skills. A non-scored writing sample is also included to assess writing ability. DESCRIPTION:The PSAT test is required for all 9th-11th grade students.\nThe PSAT for 11th grade students is the National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test. \n10th and 11th grade students will take the PSAT in the morning on Tuesday\, October 10th. 9th grade students will take the PSAT test after lunch on Tuesday\, October 10th. \nThe College Board’s PSAT provides you\, your child\, and the school with information on how well students are reaching benchmarks for college readiness. PSAT scores are a good indicator of how students will perform on the SAT. PSAT data is also helpful to the school as we align our academic curriculum with College Board benchmarks. Overall\, CRMS students outperform the national averages in demonstrating growth over time on College Board assessments. \n*PSAT test scores are not reported to colleges.\n*When score reports are posted in December\, we strongly encourage students to link their College Board account with Khan Academy so they can make use of this robust study tool. \nIf you have any questions or a conflict\, please contact Nancy Draina\, Academic Dean.

DESCRIPTION:Annually\, Wellness Days provides a shift in our academic schedule to provide the necessary space for us to address topics essential to students’ overall well-being. This year’s seminars include healthy relationships and consent\, mental health\, and substance use education with Soundcheck Prevention Network.
