Gift Acceptance Guidelines
Colorado Rocky Mountain School appreciates and encourages gifts from our constituents. Gifts received enhance the mission and program of the School above what our tuition and endowment are able to support. The Colorado Rocky Mountain School Board of Trustees has established Gift Acceptance Guidelines which outline procedures for analyzing and accepting charitable gifts to the school. The Guidelines are organized around three primary principles:Principle 1
A gift shall not be accepted by the School if such acceptance would not be in the interest of the donor. A determination of the donor’s “interest” shall include, but not be limited to, the donor’s financial situation and philanthropic interests, as well as any tax or other legal matters revealed while planning for a gift. The School shall not encourage any gifts that are inappropriate in light of the donor’s personal or financial situation.
Principle 2
A gift shall not be accepted by the School unless there is a reasonable expectation that acceptance of the gift will benefit the School.
Principle 3
Gifts that potentially expose the School to adverse publicity or involve out-of-the-ordinary conditions shall be referred to the Development Committee for resolution. The School cannot accept gifts which involve unlawful discrimination on any basis prohibited by federal, state, and local laws and regulations. In addition, the School cannot accept gifts which obligate it to violate any other applicable law or regulation, or that violate the School’s articles of incorporation, bylaws, or mission.
