Beginning Horsemanship

This interim taught individuals how to ride English style and how to take care of a horse. We learned how to handle a horse from out in the field to being on their backs! Students were assigned the same horse all week. By the end of the week individuals were able to catch their own horses, groom, tack and ride. Knowledge of natural horsemanship and solid groundwork was covered as well. Students also had the opportunity to help with barn chores which involved cleaning stalls; watering and feeding horses, cows and sheep; and cleaning tack.  After chores, we caught our horses and brought them into the barn to groom and tack up. Each day involved riding and natural horsemanship lessons in addition to visiting local non-profits and an equine surgery center.
