Signature Events
Colorado Rocky Mountain School welcomes parents and family members to campus for a few key events each year. Join us for these fun and social gatherings, as they are a great opportunity to get to know your student’s teachers, CRMS administrators and staff, other CRMS parents, and to feel at home in the community. To learn more about these and other fundraising events held annually for students, families, alumni, and friends, visit the Special Events page.

Outside of these events, parents are always welcome to visit campus. Please check in at the Welcome Center to share what your plans are for your visit.

New Family Orientation (late August)
The beginning of school is a very exciting time for new parents and students, faculty and staff. The purpose of New Family Orientation is to help families make the transition into the school by informing them about the academic and active programs and other aspects of student life. It is an opportunity for parents to meet faculty, their student’s Wilderness leaders and faculty advisor, administrators, support staff, and to visit the Business Office. On the evening of orientation, parents and students separate so that students can begin bonding within their new community and parents can receive information relating to the CRMS experience. Parents will have a chance to socialize with one another and with current parents. ALL new students spend the night on campus and leave early the next morning for their Wilderness destinations. Parents and family members are invited back to campus the next morning to wish their students well and say goodbye. Later that morning a guided tour of the local area is an option for anyone interested.

Family Weekend (late October)
Family Weekend is an annual event that brings parents, grandparents, and siblings to campus. The purpose of the weekend is to give students and their families an opportunity to be together in the school community and to meet with teachers and advisors, visit classes, listen to speakers on parenting and college counseling topics, and participate in the life of the school. A Thursday evening arrival is recommended, as events start early Friday morning. Highlighting the weekend are the CRMS Coffee House (the student talent show) and the OysterBASH Fundraiser that benefits the Arts & Active Programs at CRMS. This is a wonderful evening and everyone is urged to participate.

Commencement and Gala Luncheon (early June)
Informal, yet steeped in tradition, Colorado Rocky Mountain School Commencement is a beautiful event each June when the community comes together to celebrate the graduating seniors. The senior class proceeds to the Commencement Lawn, with the girls wearing colorful floral head wreaths, and each senior receives a traditional CRMS leather diploma. Commencement is followed by a special Gala Luncheon prepared and served by the CRMS kitchen and parent volunteers.
