Recreational and Competitive Sports in the Rocky Mountain West
Sports Program
The sports program at CRMS is a natural extension of our commitment to learning through direct experience. Our unique afternoon sports offerings take advantage of the world-class skiing, kayaking, cycling, and climbing available in the spectacular mountains, rivers, and deserts near campus. The sports offerings at CRMS embody less traditional pursuits for individuals and provide opportunities in both individual and team sports. Students participating in sports avail themselves to learning new skills, working toward greater levels of fitness and overall health, and developing a lifetime habit of caring for their physical body. Intrinsic to sports are also universal moral lessons witnessed across cultures and throughout time. The vitality that is a part of the CRMS student experience is nourished by the spirit and camaraderie that stem from sporting interactions among students in the afternoon and on weekends. The core sport programs at CRMS are made up of Biking, Rock Climbing, Paddle Sports, Snow Sports, and Soccer. Because of the time required, those participating in some competitive sports such as soccer and skiing will not have a formal work crew during the season. These students are expected to participate in an individual work crew at another time during the year. Some teams at CRMS will conduct community service projects in order to help capture the spirit of team unity and to assist in giving back to the area in which they live.
