Employment

The 2018 High School High Scholar (HS)2 summer outreach program at Colorado Rocky Mountain School is currently hiring teachers for the following positions (updated 4/6/18):

Calculus AB – two sections
Calculus BC – one section
Physics - two sections

The 2018 (HS)2 program runs June 23 to July 28, with faculty arriving on campus Wednesday, June 20 and departing between July 28 -30. Each class section will be taught for two hours per day, M-F for a total of 10 hours per week if teaching one section (50 hours over the course of the summer), and 20 hours per week if teaching two sections (100 hours total). Applicants are encouraged to consider teaching two sections if possible, however, the opportunity may exist to teach only one section.

Responsibilities also include tutoring students during study hall two to three evenings per week from 7:00-9:00 pm, and chaperoning one on-campus social event and one off-campus trip during the session. Teachers do not have dormitory responsibilities.

Applicants must have at least three years of teaching experience or at least one year of teaching in a boarding high school. Strong candidates have significant teaching experience, a mastery of the course subject, and a love of working with high school students.

Teacher Information

Each summer, (HS)2 hires teachers to lead courses in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, English and college counseling. In addition to teaching responsibilities, some teachers will be asked to mentor a teaching assistant. (HS)2 teachers do not have dormitory responsibilities. Qualified candidates typically have significant teaching experience in one of the (HS)2 subjects, and genuinely enjoy working with high school students. Salary is commensurate with experience. If you are interested in teaching at (HS)2, please download and complete the (HS)2 Teacher Application, and email to hs2@crms.org with your cover letter and resume.

TA Information - TA positions for the 2018 session have been filled

Teaching Assistants are the backbone of the (HS)2 program because they interact act with students on every level and in every setting. (HS)2 hires TAs for biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, and English. TAs assist their lead teachers in the classroom five days per week, up to three hours per day, and support students in study hall two to three nights per week. TAs live in a dormitory room with another teaching assistant (sharing bathroom facilities with students), and are on duty in the dorm two to three nights and mornings per week, and three full weekends during the summer session. Responsibilities also include chaperoning students during off-campus activities, as well transporting students in a 14-passenger vehicle. Successful TAs have a strong academic background, a high level of stamina, are compassionate, genuinely enjoy working with high school students, and are interested in mentoring first-generation college-bound students. In addition to room and board, (HS)2 Teaching Assistants typically receive $2,750 to $3,500, depending upon their assigned responsibilities. If you are interested in being a Teaching Assistant at (HS)2, please download and complete the (HS)2 Teaching Assistant Application, and email to hs2@crms.org with your cover letter and resume.

If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Blachly, program director, at hs2@crms.org, or by calling 970-963-2562 x134.
