Student Testimonial
Name: Juan Pablo
Homestate (or Country): Mexico
Grade:11
Boarding or Day Student: Boarding
Favorite subject: Environmental Science with Jim Gaw
Favorite “Active” activity: Telemark Skiing
Favorite Work Crew: My favorite work crew was Riverwatch. We worked with the Colorado Riverwatch Program to test the water from the Crystal River (which flows through our campus). I enjoyed this crew because it was a very real application of what I have been learning in my environmental science class about river ecology.
Something interesting about me: My younger brother will join me at CRMS next year as a freshman.
Best moment at Colorado Rocky Mountain School so far: The outdoor program is so amazing. I have really loved all of the trips I have done – starting with Wilderness Orientation my first year.
What made you chose Colorado Rocky Mountain School?: I chose CRMS because of the sports offerings. I was amazed that you could ski four days a week and was also impressed when I saw the school's climbing wall that students help build.
Most challenging experience/class/assignment thus far: Being a boarding student was challenging at first because I hadn’t lived away from home before I came here. Since arriving here, I realize how valuable it is to live with your friends and teachers. I not only love the sports programs here, but I am benefitting from the structure of evening study and am more focused with my classes.
Favorite food at the Bar Fork Dining Hall: Fiona (our head chef) makes the best spaghetti!
Favorite on-campus activity: On the weekends, I play indoor soccer with my friends. There is an indoor soccer club that was started by students.
